On Friday 11th March, Packaging team member Andrea Simmons participated in the World’s Greatest Shave, shaving her head in memory of her brother Tom, who lost his battle with Leukaemia 21 years ago.
The shave off was held at Merriwa’s Packaging division with the team watching on and bidding to get the first cut. Andrea’s mother and her brother’s best friend were also in attendance to support the cause.
Andrea’s goal was to raise $1,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation and she has exceeded her goal raising over $1,500. Andrea has said “I honestly can’t believe the amount of donations and support I have received, it’s just amazing. It’s been marvellous and has just blown my mind the number of people who have donated. Thank you to everyone who has donated, Tom would have been very proud”.
Andrea continued “Funds raised will go towards supporting families just like ours who have experienced a diagnosis of blood cancer and will fund vital research to help more people survive blood cancers, improving their quality of life”.
