Jonathan Koop, BEc CA GAICD, an experienced businessman and board member, has been appointed Chair of the Board for Merriwa Industries.
He succeeds Dr Chris Cunningham, who has served as Chair for seven years.
“The mission of Merriwa to provide employment opportunities for people with disability is very relevant, even more so now that the government is reforming the NDIS. I look forward to working with the Board and organisation to grow the business and provide more jobs and opportunities. People with disability have so much to contribute to the economy and society, and deserve every opportunity to do so,” said Jonathan.
Jonathan has served on the Board of Merriwa as Deputy Chair and Chair of the Risk, Audit and Finance Committee since 2021. Jonathan is a farmer, business owner, graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and former chartered accountant, with more than thirty-five years of business experience across a diverse range of industries, from media and publishing to infrastructure, agriculture, water, property and logistics.
“Merriwa has continued to grow and strengthen over the past seven years while remaining true to its purpose and values. I leave the organisation in good hands with Jonathan, who brings sound board experience and financial acumen and a strong commitment to disability employment,” said Dr Chris Cunningham.
